- RFQ Checklist: What to Send for a Fast Carbon Fiber Quote
What to Send for a Fast, Accurate Carbon Fiber Quote
The short answer: send your design files, vehicle info, material and finish preference, target quantity, destination, and any branding needs. With those six things, our engineers reply within 12 hours with a feasibility review and an itemized, factory-direct quote.
Seven Things That Make Your RFQ Answerable
Send what you have — even partial information gets a useful reply. But each missing item is a question we have to ask before we can quote, and each question adds a day.
| What to send | Details & accepted formats | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Design files | STP, STL, IGS or 2D drawings; sketches and sample photos also work | Determines structure review and whether we build from your data or reverse-engineer from a sample |
| Vehicle info | Brand, model, model year and trim | Fitment is verified against the exact vehicle — trims can differ in mounting points |
| Material & process | Wet carbon, dry carbon (prepreg) or forged — or let us recommend for your part | Process choice drives tooling type, unit price and mold life |
| Finish | Gloss or matte; weave such as 3K twill, plain or forged pattern | Surface requirements affect layup, clear coat and inspection standards |
| Quantity | Sample, 20–30 pcs, 100+ pcs — your target volumes | Volume decides mold material and whether tooling cost amortizes into unit price |
| Destination & terms | Country and city, air or sea freight, DDP if needed | Freight is a real part of landed cost — we quote it only against a destination |
| Branding needs | Logo method, labels, custom packaging — for OEM, ODM or private label programs | Branding is priced and planned at the quotation stage, not added later |
Only have a photo or a physical sample? That is enough to start — we 3D-scan and reverse-engineer samples into production data. See Custom Development. Sending files: the form upload accepts images and PDF under 5 MB — for STP, STL, IGS and larger files, paste a Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer link into the Share link field.
What Happens With Your RFQ
Every inquiry goes to engineers, not a sales bot. Here is the exact sequence.
Reply Within 12 Hours
On working days, an engineer confirms receipt and asks any missing questions — in writing, from the people who build the parts.
Feasibility Review
We review structure, material and mold feasibility against your files or sample, and flag anything that needs a design adjustment.
Itemized Quote
One reply with the tooling plan (if needed), unit pricing at your target volumes, MOQ, timeline and freight options to your destination.
Sample, Then Production
A first sample verifies fitment and finish before any batch runs — for new designs, typically about 58 days after drawings are confirmed.
Sending confidential designs? We sign an NDA before detailed drawings change hands — see OEM, ODM & Private Label.
Six RFQ Mistakes That Slow Everything Down
These are the gaps we see most often in first-time inquiries — each one adds at least one round of back-and-forth.
A Web Photo With No Dimensions
A product photo from another store shows shape, not size. Add measurements, a drawing, or the part itself for scanning — otherwise no factory can quote tooling.
No Quantity
Unit price at 20 pieces and at 200 pieces are different numbers, and volume decides the right mold material. “How much per piece?” without a quantity has no honest answer.
No Destination
Freight to Los Angeles and to Hamburg are different quotes. Country and city let us price express, air or sea — including DDP with duties handled.
Unsaid Mold Situation
Quoting an existing-mold part versus new tooling are completely different exercises. Tell us if you already have molds, or suspect your current supplier is holding yours.
Mixing Tooling Into Unit Price
Tooling is a one-time engineering cost, not a per-part margin. We quote it separately and upfront — comparing “per piece” prices that silently include tooling leads to bad decisions.
No Fitment Standard
“Fits a BMW M4” is not a standard — model year and trim are. State the exact vehicle, and whether OEM-level fitment is a hard requirement for your market.
RFQ Questions, Answered
What file formats do you accept for quoting?
STP, STL and IGS 3D files, 2D engineering drawings, or even hand sketches and sample photos. If you only have a physical sample, we 3D-scan and reverse-engineer it into production data. The form upload accepts images and PDF under 5 MB; for larger 3D files, paste a cloud link (Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer) into the Share link field.
I only have a photo or a sample part — can you still quote?
Yes. Photos with rough dimensions are enough for a preliminary discussion, and a physical sample can be 3D-scanned for a full engineering review. The quote becomes itemized once we have usable data.
How fast will I get a reply?
Within 12 hours on working days, from an engineer — in writing. Complete RFQs get a feasibility review and itemized quote directly; incomplete ones get a short list of specific questions.
What exactly does your quote include?
A feasibility review, a tooling plan if new molds are needed, unit pricing at your target volumes, MOQ, a timeline, and freight options to your destination. Tooling is always quoted separately and upfront, never added later.
Do you sign an NDA before I send drawings?
Yes. For OEM and private development programs we sign an NDA before detailed drawings change hands, and mold exclusivity can be agreed in the contract — your design is never offered to other buyers.
What is the minimum quantity I can order?
Samples start from a single piece so you can verify quality first. Standard production runs start around 20–30 pieces, and unit pricing improves at 100+ and program volumes.
