Client Requirements

Develop a genuine carbon fiber product portfolio for Corvette C8 owners and the modification market that can be purchased as a complete upgrade package or selected component by component. The design should enhance the low-slung and wide-body appearance of the mid-engine sports car while maintaining the original vehicle contours, air intake/exhaust openings, and everyday usability, allowing distributors to offer clear product selection and combination packages.

Scope of Customization

Vehicle model and model year definition → Full-vehicle upgrade scope planning → 10 component categories breakdown → Front, side, and rear styling confirmation → Individual component structure and mounting interface refinement → Carbon fiber weave and surface finish standardization → Vehicle display and product package launch.

The complete system should be developed around the original vehicle surfaces, mounting boundaries, openings, and serviceability requirements. Key areas of control include the gaps, contour continuity, carbon fiber weave direction, and coating consistency between the front lip and front bumper canards, side skirts and side air intake trims, rear splitter/diffuser components, rear wing, and detailed trim pieces. Specific assembly tolerances and acceptance criteria shall be based on project drawings and approved samples.

Pain Point

The C8 features complex air intake openings, mid-engine sports car proportions, and strong front and rear styling language. Adding exterior components individually can easily result in disconnected lines, visual imbalance, or conflicts with mounting boundaries. With 10 component categories distributed across multiple areas of the vehicle, a lack of unified standards for component segmentation, gaps, carbon fiber weave direction, and coating batches can negatively affect the overall vehicle finish and consistency of channel deliveries.

Solution

The project established four product groups covering the front, sides, rear, and detailed components. The overall proportions and visual theme were first defined at the vehicle level, after which the design was divided into independently saleable components. For each mounting area, the original vehicle contours, openings, adjacent-component gaps, and service space were verified, while carbon fiber specifications, weave direction, and surface treatment were standardized.

Complete-vehicle front and rear renderings, kit breakdown drawings, and individual components installed on the actual vehicle were used for coordinated confirmation, balancing overall design consistency with SKU-based productization.

Final Result

A 10-category genuine carbon fiber product portfolio was established for the front, sides, rear, and engine bay of the 2020–2021 Corvette C8 Stingray, with complete-vehicle front and rear styling and multiple individual components demonstrated on the actual vehicle.

The project transformed a collection of individual aftermarket components into a clearly structured, combinable, model-specific upgrade system, enhancing the overall visual coherence of the vehicle while improving product selection efficiency for distribution channels.
