Why Carbon

Why Carbon Fiber Shift Knobs — and What to Look For

A shift knob is the most-touched part in the car — every gear change, every drive. Carbon knobs bring real weave and finish quality to the one interior piece your customer's hand is always on.

The details: thread insert quality, weight balance and edge finish. Ours use machined metal inserts, balanced cores and hand-finished surfaces with a cockpit-grade coat that resists wear and fingerprints.

Machined thread inserts

Metal cores — no stripped plastic threads

Balanced weight

Weighted for shift feel, not just looks

Wear-resistant coat

Cockpit-grade finish for constant hand contact

Customization

What You Can Customize on a Shift Knob

Thread & Fitment Variants

Common thread sizes plus model-specific adapters — tell us the car and gearbox when ordering.

Shape Options

Round, teardrop and pistol shapes from existing molds; custom shapes on new tooling.

Interior Set Matching

Matched to interior trim sets in weave and finish for a complete cabin.

Wet vs Dry Carbon

Wet carbon for value; prepreg dry carbon for the crispest weave.

Weave & Color

2×2 twill, 1×1 plain, forged carbon, Kevlar blends.

Finish

High-gloss or matte/satin. Matte resists fingerprints on a part handled all day.

Before You Order

Fitment, Installation & Safety Notes

Installation: most knobs thread on by hand — two minutes. Cars with lift-reverse collars or integrated boots need the matching variant; tell us your gearbox when ordering.

Thread check: thread size differs by brand and gearbox. If unsure, measure the shank or send a photo of the stock knob base.

Care: wipe with a microfiber cloth. The cockpit-grade coat resists hand oils — no solvent cleaners needed or recommended.

FAQ

Carbon Fiber Shift Knobs Questions

Will it fit my car?

Knobs use common thread sizes plus adapters. Tell us the model and gearbox — manual, automatic and lift-reverse variants all differ.

Does the carbon get hot or cold to touch?

Carbon moderates temperature better than metal — noticeably friendlier in summer and winter than an alloy knob.

Is it just a cover or a full knob?

Full replacement knobs with machined metal inserts and balanced cores — not tape-on covers.

Which models already have molds?

16 models across 10 brands, plus universal thread variants. Send us your model and gearbox and we will confirm within 12 hours.

How are shift knobs shipped?

In small padded boxes consolidated into master cartons. Air freight is fast and economical at this size.

What is the MOQ for existing-mold customization?

No strict MOQ on catalog designs — one piece is fine. Best unit cost starts around 20 pcs, and mixed parts count toward the batch.
